I'm Ready to Sew

I spent most of the day  getting ready to sew for the Friday Night Sew In.  I cleaned house and started putting  Christmas away.  I'm sure the neighbors are glad to see the wreaths out of the window.  Just sayin

I am in the process of trying to finish my Scrappy Hearts quilt.  It's been 2 years in the making.

Oops!  It looks like I forgot to take the Christmas quilt off my bed.

This is how much I had done when I put it away 2 years ago.   I  look at it and think, "Wow!  I made that?"  With so many quick and fast quilts that I made for the kids and grand kids sometimes I wonder if I still know how to make a half square triangle!

I loved the idea of knowing that all of us were sewing together, but I sort of got  lonely. I messaged my quilting buddy  Mary Ann on Facebook to see what she was doing, and she  was sewing at the Friday Night Sew In.  We chatted while we sewed, and it made for a fun night.  Neither one of us could stay up all night, but sewing for a little while is better than not sewing at all.

The quilt is a queen  size quilt. I didn't get it finished last night during the sew in, but I did finish making all of the hearts, after I ripped out a couple that I had sewn together the wrong way.

I know that it's fun to get things finished really fast, but for me, I need to slow down and enjoy the process of quilting.  I really had fun matching seams, squaring up blocks, and admiring my beautiful half square triangles.

Thank you Heidi for hosting the Friday Night Sew In.

  1. This quilt is going to be so pretty laying on a bed. I really like the scrappy background formed by the little blocks of fabric. Looks like you will have the top finished soon!

  2. Hi Amanda !!! That was fun "sewing" with you last night! I can't believe I pooped out before 2 AM (I must be getting old....ugh!!!). Anyway .... your hearts are GORGEOUS !!! That is going to be a really pretty quilt.

  3. I just love your heart quilt. Can not wait to see it finished.

  4. Wow the heart quilt is beautiful. Is a block pattern available anywhere for it?

  5. How romantic bed quilt will this be! Adorable! I like your burgundy fabrics.

  6. Beautiful scraps. Definitely going to be a beautiful quilt.

  7. I love hearts! Valentines Day may be over but I am still working on a heart themed project. My goal is to finish it by St. Patrick's Day. LOL!

  8. Aww! This is a pretty quilt. I love seeing heart quilts because it makes me think about passion and romantic stuff all the time. :) I think you did an awesome job with this quilt. Keep up the good work! :)

  9. Is is ok to use several colourways or do we have to stick to one?
