May Giveaway Day

Thank you to everyone for entering the giveaway.  I have enjoyed reading your comments, and I look forward to getting to know you!  The giveaway is now closed.  I will announce the winner on Sunday evening.  Thank you!

Welcome to my blog!  I'm Amanda, also known as the "Busy Little Quilter".  I am so excited that you are here!

This is Sew, Mama Sew's Annual "May Giveaway Day".  In the past, it was just for one day, but this year they are leaving it open for a week starting Monday, May 21 through Friday, May 25 at 5pm PST.  Please be sure to visit Sew Mama Sew's blog for the links to enter other bloggers giveaways.  And, if you would like to offer a giveaway on your blog, it's not to late to join in on the fun.  Just go to Sew, Mama Sew's blog to find out more information.

I have been quilting for about 17 years.  I was bit by the "quilting bug" when I spotted an appliqued heart quilt on the front cover of  American Patchwork and Quilting magazine in a fabric store.  I had never seen a quilting magazine before!  Soon, I joined a small group of quilters and my quilting adventure began.

My first quilt was a  "Log Cabin Quilt in a Day" by Eleanor Burns.  Since that time I have made lots of quilts,  and I have loved sharing my love of quilting with my friends, family, and the many bloggers that inspire me.  I even became a Certified "Quilt in a Day" Teacher last year, with Eleanor Burns being my instructor.  I guess you could say that my quilting adventure has taken me full circle.  I never would have imagined when I was making my first quilt that one day I would be "Quilt in a Day" instructor.

Now that you know a little bit about me, here is what I'm giving away!

Since my favorite quilting magazine is American Patchwork and Quilting, I thought it would be fun to give away their "little sister" magazine, "Quilts and More".

This is the summer issue, and it's filled with quick and easy projects for beginners to experienced quilters.  I really enjoy the "Scrap Lab" where Joanna Figueroa of  Fig Tree and Co.  and Camille Roskelley of Thimbleblossoms  ,and one other guest (the one for this issue is Monica Solorio-Snow (aka Happy Zombie), make something special from a specific set of materials.  This particular challenge uses a Charm Pack and 1/2 yard of a solid cream.

As you can see, a table topper, pillow, or two hot pads can be made using those materials.  I thought that a charm pack of Vintage Modern (new fabric line from Camille Roskelley and her mom, Bonnie) would be perfect for this.

I can't do a giveaway without including something from Quilt in a Day, so I am tossing in a fun pattern, Dessert Time Quilt.

You can use a Layer Cake and a Jelly Roll from a line of fabrics, or you can use fabrics from your own "stash".   I love the piano key borders, and you will love learning how to create them.

Here's how to enter my giveaway.

  1. Follow my blog by clicking on the  "Join My Site" button.
  2. Leave me a comment below telling me your favorite craft hobby.
One entry per person. Please be sure that your e-mail is not set to "no reply".  If you don't have a blog, please tell me your name, and include your e-mail address in your comment.   This is open to US residents, as well as International.   The giveaway is open starting May 21-May 25 at 5:00 PST.   Comments will be closed at 5:00 PST.   That night, I will use the random generator to select the winner.  The winner will be contacted, and announced on my blog on the 27th.

Good luck to everyone!

Amanda

  13. My favorite hobby since 2004 when I bought my first embroidery machine was doing any type of project that included machine embroidery. Now my interests have turned toward quilting and learning to do that. I've been studying and playing around with that for the past two years now.

How fun that you are a Quilt in a Day teacher. And taught by Eleanor herself. Wow. Congratulations on that even if it wasn't recent.

It made me smile when you said your first quilt was the Log cabin in a day(as that is the same quilt that was my first big quilt! It took me a lot longer than a day to quilt but I did love it. Unfortunately it had a bit of a sad life with our pets etc so it is in pretty bad shape now. I made mine in 1987.
I have become a new follower.
