Happy Birthday To Me!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blogging for the following message:
I started writing this post on my birthday, which was the 28th of October. I got so busy cleaning and decorating for my Halloween quilting party, that I blogged about it first and not my birthday. Sorry for the confusion, if you're confused!!

Yes, today is my birthday. I am now 45!

I'm glad you all enjoyed this post. I hesitated when I pressed the "publish post" button, but I'm glad I did. Did any of you pull out a picture of yourself when you were a young girl? Did any of you get to "play" today?

Well, I did! I cleaned and did some decorating in my dining room and formal living room. You may not look at that as being play time, but I do. I used to tell people that I hated housework. My mom would say to me, "Amanda. You don't hate housework, sweetie. You love a clean house therefore you love housework." Gee, I missed her today.

You know, I think this is why I was feeling overwhelmed. My dining room and formal living room had sort of gotten out of control. I didn't shoot pictures. How embarrassing that would be!! :) It was just clutter such as mail, photos, my husbands binoculars (don't ask me why), and much more. It was so overwhelming to me that I just kept putting it off. Today I decided that I was going to tackle it, and so I did. I cleared everything out, vacuumed, dusted, washed windows, and decorated it for a party that I am having at my house on Thursday. It feels good to have it all done!

I know you're saying to yourself, "Okay, Amanda. Enough of the rambling...where are the pictures?" Well, you're going to have to wait. I'm still getting everything ready for the party! You'll see everything before my friends do!

However, I do have pictures of my birthday celebration!!!

As I told you before, my grandson, Cameron, was born on my 40th birthday! Julia was 10 at the time. She called me when I was at the hospital and said, "Mom. That's so sweet. You had a grand baby born on your birthday; your 40th birthday. Just think...when he's 40 you'll be 80!" She said it so sweetly I couldn't get irritated at her!! However, when he's 40, she'll be 50!!!

Here are Cameron at me at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

Alexis had to get her picture made with me, too! The other two babies were busy trying to get gum from the gum machine. They were too busy for a picture with me, Mom-Mom.

It's back to our house for birthday cupcakes and ice cream.

Opening presents is always fun no matter how old you are. Cameron got a gift card to Walmart to do his own shopping. Every kid loves to do that!

Steve gave me a red coat from Ann Taylor. I love red coats. The one I have worn for the last 10 years has worn out so it was time for a new one. On the Today show this week they did an interview with someone about a study that was done on how men are attracted to red. Do you see that sparkle in Steve's eyes? I guess they're right!!

He also got me this orange plaid scarf to wear. I love the scarf, but I can't figure out how to wear it. It's square and I do better with scarves that are long; not square. I still love it, though. Hopefully, I'll figure out a way to wear it that will look good on me.

My rulers for cutting were wearing out, so I went to my favorite quilt shop and bought some Creative Grid rulers. I also got another Terri Atkinson quilt book. I love her designs. Thanks Betty! ;)

Wade is my computer guru. He's going to set my lap top up for wireless internet so I can have my computer in my sewing room.

Julia is taking me to see the movie, "The Secret Life of Bees". I loved the book, so ever since the movie came out she has been wanting to take me to see it.

Laura is making me the words for my sewing room. She has ordered the vinyl, and it should be in next week. I have decided to put the words Busy Little Quilter on the wall above my sewing machine. I have other spaces to put more words, so we'll do that later. She is also going to put vinyl words in my not soformal living room. We have decided on Sit long. Talk much. Laugh often. That's so me! Can't you tell??? :) I guess I should have had a picture made with Laura and me without the grand kids. They were getting sleepy and finding it really hard to smile at this point. They're still cute!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It's been a fun month!

Now back to regulary scheduled blogging.

Go to the next post for my Halloween Decorating and Quilting Party.

Amanda

Your favorite quilt shop is also one of my favorites. Someday we'll have to meet IRL and have lunch and then take a drive there to shop.
Your photos are all so great. I'm a red coat gal too and also wore out my old one and replaced it. My newer one came from DeJongs, remember that shop? I miss it!
I lucked out and found a fastastic sale that day.
