Leaf Quilt Finally Finished

Hello, bloggy friends!

I got back from my quilting retreat, Runaway Quilters, I went on since my last post. I had such a great time. I usually take classes all three days, as there are a variety of classes that quilting teachers offer. However, this time I decided to finish some things in "Sit and Sew" for two days, and take a half-day class that Terry was teaching.

As you all know, I have committed myself here to finish 7 WIPs by New Years Day. I finally finished my leaf quilt, so I'm off to a great start, don't you think?

It looks a little bumpy in this photo, but that's because the wind was blowing, and Steve was on the other side holding it tight so that it wouldn't blow away! I gave it to Terry yesterday for her to quilt it for me. I told her to do the "Terry Magic", so I can't wait to see what she does.

Terry made this quilt last year for her Halloween decorating. How dare she make such a cute quilt without telling me!! :)

Little did I know that when she bought her pattern and kit, she also bought one for me and gave it to me for my birthday (last October). Of course I had intentions of making it right away, but instead in went into a WIP box and onto a shelf. When she decided to teach the class at the retreat, I knew that it would be a chance for me to finish something.

Tracy used a different color way for her quilt.

I really like the red oranges and beiges she used.

I wish that I could tell you that I finished this quilt, too, but I can't.

Another lady, Barbara, worked hard adding borders and appliqueing during her time in Sit and Sew. It's so beautiful.

Here are some quilts from either classes being taught this year, or in previous years.

If you will, notice the leaf quilt on the right in this last photo. It's the same leaf quilt that I finished in the photo above. Nell wanted a spring leaf quilt using her greens, and mine is fall batiks. Both quilts are beautiful, but it's really amazing to see how the same quilt can look so different by using colors that you love or colors that make you "think outside the box".

I have a lot more to post about, but I would rather do it all in separate posts. So, check back for more posts in the next day or so. :)

  7. What a fun retreat . . . I like the idea of the choice - sit and sew or a class. The best of both worlds *s*
