Happy Labor Day/Hurricane Gustav

Just a quick little note to tell everyone Happy Labor Day.

It is a beautiful day, here in Kentucky. I am piddling around in my sewing room straightening and organizing a little. I had Halloween fabrics every where trying to decide which prints to use for Gatlin's quilt. You wouldn't believe the size of my Halloween stash! I have 6 smaller rubbermaid containers full of yardage, fat quarters, and scraps.

I was watching the weather channel about Hurricane Gustav. Judy, Vicki, and I have family that live in Louisiana. I have several friends in Pat Sloan's Yahoo Group that are from there, such as Becky, too.

Although my family lives in Northwest LA, I have family all over the state. By the looks of things, it will go into Shreveport and into parts of Texas. Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida are effected, as well. In fact, as I was typing this, they issued a tornado warning for Destin, FL.

Please keep our families in your prayers today and in the week ahead. I will keep you and your families in my prayers, as well.

Amanda

  2. I have not heard the word piddle since I was a little girl. My grandma used to say it ALL the time refering to my grandpa. When I read it it put a smile on my face to have a wonderful memory of my grandparents who passed away about 10 years ago. Thanks!

  3. Amanda,
My family did ok through Hurricane Gustav. My Dad in Lafayette evacuated to Baton Rouge with my brother's family. They were without electricity for 9 days, but my brother had a generator and air conditioner. We were glued to the Weather Channel the entire time.
